Wall color - Revere Pewter by Benjamin Moore

I had another crazy project recently. In my quest to rid my house of dark brown furniture, I decided to paint our bedroom furniture. Insert Aaron's eye roll here. We bought nice furniture when we built our house and it has served its purpose well...but the fact remains that it is brown. We updated our bedding almost a year ago, and while it felt updated and fresh, it still felt a little dark. It was either replace the furniture or try painting it - so I went with the much easier option of painting it. Because really, you think of the work in convincing Aaron we needed new furniture, picking out said furniture, and then the hassle of selling and moving out the old...painting sounds much, much easier ;)

I was actually surprised how easy painting the furniture was. The key in keeping the project easy, in my mind, was using chalk paint. I am sure you have seen/heard the chalk paint rage on Pinterest. It actually is a great as it sounds. I was able to paint it onto the furniture with no sanding. It required three coats plus a glaze. I will share a DIY with all the details soon.

Back to our bedroom update. I love how much brighter it feels. I have always had a place in my heart for white and navy and this bedding is exactly what I had dreamed of. I also love the muted pattern on the Euro Shams and curtains. You may recognize my engineer prints repeated in the bedroom too - I loved them so much I needed to put them up in the bedroom too. I need to take a pic of all 3 of the to fill out the grouping of 4 - or just have a 4th baby ;) ;)

After painting the furniture white, it made my previously cream headboard appear pretty dingy. I swear, all of my projects are similar to the book, If You Give a Mouse a Cookie... So then I needed to re-cover the headboard. I had already recovered it once before (it was originally a faux leather headboard and pictures of that will not be appearing here), so recovering it a second time was very easy. Truth be told, recovering your headboard is a very simple DIY - I will share this one soon. I love how well the new fabric works with the wall color and colors in the Euro Shams.

I really love how bright and cheerful the room feels now. I promised Aaron that I am done with the bedroom for now. So I am working on another room ;)

Have a great weekend!!
xo, Brooke

  1. SO!!!Awesome room, you made a lot of efforts! I was helped by the designer and I was pleased with the repair and the color range that was chosen. The decision of white furniture is grandiose, but I'm more practical and decide to choose furniture in the online store Go to lacomfy.com/bedroom-furniture , good prices and everything you need for a guy like me)
