Black Friday & Cyber Monday Shopping Strategies

One of the biggest shopping weeks of the year is about to start!!  I have none of my holiday shopping done, so I plan to get most of it done this week when stores will be offering their best prices. I am sharing some of my shopping tips today to get us all prepared for this big week! Using these tips, we will get our shopping done, save some money, and save a lot of sanity!!

1. Make a list - Me recommend a list?!? Shocking, I know. This is the only way my mom-brain can keep everything straight. Make a list of everyone you need to buy gifts for - family, friends, teachers, babysitter, etc. Add your gift ideas to your list and then update with what you actually bought and the cost. Cross off as you go! Not only will this help you keep you on track for what you need to buy, but also help you manage your budget. Check out this free gift list template I use.

2. Start Early - Many places have started or will start their Black Friday specials early. Nordstroms, Shopbop, JCrew, and East Dane are some of the places already offering sale prices!

3. Set Alone Time - This is big. Unless you have a girls shopping day tradition, you need to do this solo. You will stay on track and have fewer distractions if you are alone. If you are shopping online, same applies.

4. Do research - I try to review my list and determine if this is an item that needs to be purchased at a specific store or is this an item that is sold several places. Also, in doing your research, determine if it is a hot item this year - remember Hatchimals last year?! If you find the hot item, buy it!

5. Get Free Shipping - This is a big one for me. With so many options for shopping, you should get free shipping during this peak season. If in doubt, you can check out this website that shows which retailers are offering free shipping as well as guaranteed Christmas delivery.

6. Black Friday - If you are brave enough to battle the crowds, you will find some great deals. I am not a big in-store Black Friday shopper, but I do know that the key is to check out the store adds. Here you will see what the "doorbuster" items are and what the discounts will be. Be aware though, unless you are shopping for a "doorbuster" item, you may be able to get the same discount online or at another point during the sale weekend.

7. Cyber Monday - The biggest online shopping day! For a lot of places, you are going to find some of your best deals - especially the online only places (Amazon). Some big retailers that have stores and online will be offering the sales throughout the weekend (JCrew, Nordstrom, Gap, etc)

8. Where I will be shopping - Here are my go to places for gifts and where I usually find great deals. Check back here on Friday for my top Black Friday finds. I will also be updating throughout the weekend and Monday to share my finds!!

Nordstrom - This is one of my favorite places to shop for gifts for her - sisters, moms, and girlfriends.

ShopBop - Pit stop here to do some shopping for me...

East Dane - BEST place to shop for men! Sale currently going on now!!

JCrew - Again, going to shop here for some stuff for me. Will likely get Aaron and the kids an outfit or two here with the great pricing.

Amazon - Duh. My life wouldn't function without Prime. They always offer amazing deals on their Fire Tablets ( like $40 amazing...). They are posting Black Friday sale prices now, but I will wait until Cyber Monday to shop here.

Target - I will usually get the kids' gifts online here. This is one place I will scour the add to see which items on my list will be on the Black Friday Sale.

Uncommon Goods - One of my favorite places for unique, thoughtful gifts! I can always find a good guy gift here.

PotteryBarn - Another favorite place to buy gifts for her.

Happy shopping!!
XO, Brooke
