Sharing a glimpse at our holiday décor today!! I had a much harder time decorating the new house...things I had previously didn't work as well in the new spots. But overall, I am loving how it is turning out. I wanted to do a little less this year than previous years - partly because I am still figuring out where I want things and also because I love how open and spacious our house feels, and didn't want to make it feel cluttered.
When decorating for the holidays, one of the easiest things you can do it replace your usual throw pillows. Pulling out a fun plaid or fur pillow will instantly make the room feel festive. Placing small sprigs of greenery or garland behind picture frames or in vases is also an easy way to add some subtle holiday décor. One of the key things to making sure what you are adding does not add clutter to the room, is to remove your usual décor.  I also try to add a little touch of Christmas to every room - again the key to not making this feel cluttered is to remove the décor you usually have in place of your holiday décor.
I tend to lean more towards traditional Christmas colors. I do love the all white look, but it just isn't for our family. I did try to do more neutral/natural looking décor in the kitchen and dining nook, where it is so white. I do hope to replace our entry tree with a beautiful flocked tree - going to wait for some after Christmas sales for this one.
I love how our home feels at Christmas! The kids love seeing the decor and I love giving them a festive home during this special season. Another great thing about decorating for Christmas...it feels SO great to take it all down and have a fresh house in Jan ;)
