Before oddly placed brick
After love the brick painted!!
I am so excited to finally be sharing with you some of our new house!! We have done so many updates since moving in in May and it is all really coming together. Today I am sharing the before and afters of the exterior what a difference, right?!?! When we purchased the home, we loved the overall design and shape of the house. We did not love the brown color in fact, we hated it and it was somewhat difficult to look past when we were initially viewing the house. We knew this would be one of the must update items on our list. We early on realized that we were going to need help with choosing our exterior color. The stone on the house was very warm and we wanted to make sure that the color we chose complimented the stone. We enlisted the help of Maria Killam a designer and color expert to help us determine the best color for our house. I couldnt speak more highly of Maria and her team as well as the overall process! I was surprised at how precise they are at picking the exact color using your homes fixed features. To start the process, we sent Maria pictures of our home full view and close ups. She also requested we take pictures of the stone and brick with a piece of white paper, as this allows her to better see the undertones. We were then given a full report of the colors and accent colors to start with. It took about 3 different samples to get our exact shade. Some of the early samples were too light or too cool things that I couldnt really tell until Maria pointed them out! After figuring out the perfect color, Pashmina, we then decided which areas to paint. The accent color was Iron Mountain, a beautiful dark grey. The stone was obviously fixed and unchangeable, but the oddly placed brick was an easy fix. We painted that the house color and the result is gorgeous! We decided against a trim color (at the advice of Maria) as there was so much trim and it would be much too busy. We also painted the trim the color of the house this allowed the dark roof to pop. As you can see, the result is a much fresher, current look to the house. It is so much brighter and pretty. I think the house also looks larger in the lighter color. We could not be more happy with how it has turned out. If you are considering painting your exterior (or any area for that matter), I really encourage you to enlist the help of Maria her knowledge of color and tones is so impressive. I encourage you to follow her on her blog, Colour Me Happy, and Instagram as well I am always learning little bits from her great posts! Watch for future posts on the rest of the house updates!!
