Skincare has always been something I take seriously – not always by choice! A healthy skincare routine is something that has been engrained in me from a young age by my mom. As I have talked about before, my mom owns a medical laser spa and skincare is what she does for a living! I follow all advice she gives religiously! See my previous post on my daily skincare routine.
Today I am sharing some of my secrets for glowing skin! And no, I am not going to tell you to drink more water! While this helps (a lot) with glowing skin, this is something I struggle with, so I am not going to preach this point
Secret 1: Revision Tinted moisturizer
After applying my morning skincare products, I use a tinted moisturizer. I have tried several different products, but have found Revision Intellishade to be the best. Seriously, the best! You will see that this product gets amazing reviews. It is not only anti-aging, it adds a nice uniform coverage and healthy glow. Be sure to choose the original formulation and not the matte finish if you are wanting to add a glow. I buy the large bottle as I use this every day and the price per oz is better in the large. This product is a must!!!
Secret 2: Tula Illuminating Serum
Okay, this awesome little container packs some big time glow. I apply this serum after applying my tinted moisturizer and before my foundation. One pea sized amount adds just the right amount of sheen to my face. You can see a little shimmer in the product and it is so amazing how well it creates natural glow. I apply this to my entire face and consider this one of my best tools for glowing skin!
Secret 3: Nars Highlighting Stick
This is one of the easiest ways to “fake” glowing skin! I apply my highlighting stick on my cheekbones, above my eyebrows, on the tip of my chin, and on the cupids bow of my upper lip. My favorite highlight stick is the Nars Multiple Stick. I use the luxor color. I find this shade easy to blend with my skin tone and it not stand out as a obvious white streak after blending in. Bonus, you can use this stick anywhere as the name implies.
Similar to the highlight stick, I use a creme blush stick. I find this to give a much less matte finish than regular powder blush (even if that blush has sheen). I am a fan of the Laura Mercier Face Color Stick in the Pink Glow shade. I apply a small round amount to the apples of my cheeks and then blend back along my cheekbones into my hairline. I have tried some drugstore brand blush sticks and do feel like they provide a similar look – they just don’t last as long.
Getting rid of built up, dead skin is an important part of helping your skin achieve that glowing look. I use my Clarisonic Mia every night. As I mentioned in my skincare routine post, my mom can always tell when I slack off with using this!! I also use SkinMedica’s GlyPro exfoliating face wash once a week. I have pretty sensitive skin and it gets irritated if I use this wash more frequently.
So my secrets are out of the bag now In addition to these tips for glowing skin, a healthy skincare routine is essential to glowing skin. Check out my previous post on my skincare routine for my favorite products and daily routine. What are your must have skincare products?
